Thursday sketch.
I’ve been following fellow comic artist Jess Fink’s twitter - her work has been ripped off recently, by the notorious Todd Goldman and by Etsy user Tyneshia Buie. She rants about that here - it’s a good read.
It’s harder to get away with straight-up art theft anymore - the internet has become a very small place, and when you rip off someone’s work and present it as your own, you will most likely get called out with tremendous speed. But it’s also infuriatingly difficult to follow up on those accusations, especially when the thieves are selling to a consumer that doesn’t care where the art comes from, they just want it. Indifference is the greatest asset the thief has.
This is worth your time.
THIS GOES FOR MUSIC AND OTHER FORMS OF ART TOO. -COUGH- DUDE WHO LIVES RIGHT ACROSS FROM ME CLAIMING HE WROTE ALL THIS CATCHY SHIT AND PLAYS THE SAME THING EVERY DAY THAT HE CLEARLY DID NOT ACTUALLY RIGHT -COUGH-.
asshole.
